E100-26

Israel's Disobedience

Judges 2:6—3:6

Kevin's Commentary (link to commentary)

You are encouraged to go through steps or process scripture in these steps:

  • Pray = in anticipation of what God wants you to discover. Lord God, I want to know what You say is right and wise, and then to live that way. Teach me more today.
  • Read = with purpose look for what God is trying to communicate. You may want to read out of several translations and highlight key words.
  • Reflect = on the context and put yourself in the shoes of people at that time. What do you think causes people to ignore God’s ways, suffer as a result, see him help them, and then turn away from him again? Have you experienced that pattern?
    • God is ... What do we learn about God?
    • We are ... What do we learn about people?
    • How would you explain the Israelite’s pattern of falling away from God, getting in trouble, crying out for help, being delivered and falling away again?
    • Do you experience ups and downs in your relationships with God? With others? Why is that so?
    • Do you think God might use other nations to “test” our country as he did with Israel? If so, explain and give an example if you can.
  • Apply = information without application is fruitless. Decide on some practical steps you can take for fulfill what God wants you to do. What are two things you can do this day and this week to help you keep your relationship with God steady and moving forward? Begin implementing them now.
  • Pray = yielding to God to empower you to do what the word convicted you to do. Lord, I pray for myself and my nation that we will keep following Your ways faithfully each day.
