DANIEL IN THE LION’S DEN

Daniel 6

Kevin's Commentary

You are encouraged to go through steps or process scripture in these steps:

  • Pray = in anticipation of what God wants you to discover. Lord, You know it’s not easy for me to do the right thing all the time but I really do want to.
  • Read = with purpose look for what God is trying to communicate. You may want to read out of several translations and highlight keywords.
  • Reflect = on the context and put yourself in the shoes of people at that time. Daniel may have been tempted to go along with the King’s decree. What temptations to “downplay” your faith do you face? How can you avoid them?
    • God is ... What do we learn about God?
    • We are ... What do we learn about people?
    • Daniel took a great risk to stand up for his faith. Have you ever had to stand up for what you believe, in spite of significant consequences? What happened?
    • Do you think people today should be more “up front” about their religious beliefs? Why or why not?
  • Apply = information without application is fruitless. Decide on some practical steps you can take to fulfill what God wants you to do. Look for a way to stand up for your faith in public today, whether giving silent thanks before a meal, wearing a Christian symbol or in some other appropriate way.
  • Pray = yielding to God to empower you to do what the word convicted you to do. Ask God to show you how to appropriately stand publicly for your faith and for the courage to do it.
