A VOICE AND A VISION

Revelation 1

Kevin's Commentary

You are encouraged to go through steps or process scripture in these steps:

  • Pray = in anticipation of what God wants you to discover. Thank You, Lord God, that one day everything will finally be just the way You intended it to be.
  • Read = with purpose look for what God is trying to communicate. You may want to read out of several translations and highlight keywords.
  • Reflect = on the context and put yourself in the shoes of people at that time. What does this passage tell you about Jesus, about who he is, what he has done and will do? Is there something new or surprising that you learned about Jesus here?
    • God is ... What do we learn about God?
    • We are ... What do we learn about people?
    • What would you say are the benefits and dangers of wanting to know more about the future? What can and can’t we know?
    • What do you learn about Jesus in the first chapter of Revelation? Does any of it surprise, confuse or upset you? Explain.
  • Apply = information without application is fruitless. Decide on some practical steps you can take to fulfill what God wants you to do. Later today, write down in just a few sentences what you have learned throughout the E100 about who Jesus is and what his life, death, and resurrection mean to you.
  • Pray = yielding to God to empower you to do what the word convicted you to do. Lord, help me to hear, understand clearly and take to heart what You want me to know about Jesus.
