E100 Bible Reading Plan

The Essential 100 Challenge (E100) helps you get an overview of the Bible... without getting bogged down. The Plan guides you through 50 Old Testament passages and 50 New Testament passages — The Essential 100 — so you can see the big picture of God's Word, and form a daily Bible reading habit in the process. It is based on major characters, events, and themes of the Bible.  It is designed to help readers get the big picture about God’s word as they create a habit of regular Bible reading.  Obviously, with a total of 100 readings, it is not necessarily a daily plan that must last all year, but it has built-in flexibility and can be personalized.

You are encouraged to go through steps or process scripture in these steps:

• Pray = in anticipation of what God wants you to discover.
• Read = with purpose look for what God is trying to communicate. You may want to read out of several translations and highlight key words.
• Reflect = on the context and put yourself in the shoes of people at that time.
• Apply = information without application is fruitless. Decide on some practical steps you can take for fulfill what God wants you to do.
• Pray = yielding to God to empower you to do what the word convicted you to do.

We will spend 5 sessions under each major area. There are 10 major themes of the Old Testament and 10 major areas in the New Testament.

I will develop the notes as we go through the study in our "Early Bird" class on Wednesday nights. For that study each Wednesday we will take one Old Testament and one New Testament scripture each week. I will place the notes on this blog and they can be found with the topic #E100.
