THE FALL OF JERUSALEM

2 Kings 25

Kevin's Commentary

You are encouraged to go through steps or process scripture in these steps:

  • Pray = in anticipation of what God wants you to discover. Thank God that he is in control of all things that will come your way during this day.
  • Read = with purpose look for what God is trying to communicate. You may want to read out of several translations and highlight key words.
  • Reflect = on the context and put yourself in the shoes of people at that time. The fall of Jerusalem was punishment for Israel’s sin. Do you believe God uses disasters of different kinds to punish people today? Who would you warn if you could?
    • God is ... What do we learn about God?
    • We are ... What do we learn about people?
    • The capture of Jerusalem and sacking of the Temple was a terrible disaster. Have you experienced any terrible disasters in your life? If so, what did you learn from them?
    • Have you ever felt closer to God during, or as a result of, any tough times in your life? If so, in what way?
  • Apply = information without application is fruitless. Decide on some practical steps you can take for fulfill what God wants you to do. Pause today to confess any sin in your life you’re aware of and ask God’s forgiveness for both your wrongs and the wrongs of your nation, also.
  • Pray = yielding to God to empower you to do what the word convicted you to do. Lord God, I know You are a totally just and loving God and I trust in that completely.
