THE COMING OF THE LORD
1 Thessalonians 4:13—5:11
Kevin's Commentary
You are encouraged to go through steps or process scripture in these steps:
- Pray = in anticipation of what God wants you to discover. God, I want to know You and know more about You. Draw me closer to You today, I pray.
- Read = with purpose look for what God is trying to communicate. You may want to read out of several translations and highlight key words.
- Reflect = on the context and put yourself in the shoes of people at that time. What do you learn here about Christ’s return? Does anything surprise you? What does it say about those who predict exactly when Christ will return to earth?
- God is ... What do we learn about God?
- We are ... What do we learn about people?
- What do you think it means to be “alert” for Christ’s return? Are you? Explain.
- How does the promise of Christ’s return affect the way you live now?
- Apply = information without application is fruitless. Decide on some practical steps you can take for fulfill what God wants you to do. Take a moment today to look up in the sky and imagine the Lord Jesus returning. Hear the trumpet blast and feel yourself caught up to meet the Lord as he returns.
- Pray = yielding to God to empower you to do what the word convicted you to do. Lord Jesus, I can only imagine what it will be like when You return, but I want to be alert and ready!
